The Leafy Greens collection of this year is broader than of previous years. I chose many Red Lettuce varieties for their health properties such as good source of Dietary Fiber, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus and Selenium, and a very good source of Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K, Thiamin, Riboflavin, Vitamin B6, Folate, Iron, Potassium and Manganese.
Also the Red Lettuce seems to be the strongest, all varieties are quite resilient to the ever changing London weather: too much rain, too cold or too hot.
The Green Lettuce wasn’t so lucky, only one type survived and died at the end of July because of too much water from the heavy rain.
An interesting new discovery was the Red Mustard, amazing peppery flavour and the Red Orach which again is full of goodness.
Kale is our main ingredient for smoothies alongside with Spinach. They do have a short life cycle so we must keep sowing new seeds every three months.
